Now offering classes Tuesday (7:00 - 9:00 pm) and Saturday (10:30 am - 12:30 pm)
The Bujinkan is a traditional set of 9 martial schools headed by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi. The skills taught in the Bujinkan include the strikes, locks, throws and weapons coming from primarily 6 of the 9 schools.

New members focus on the fundamentals of taijutsu (unarmed technique) , bojutsu (staff/stick), and kenjutsu (sword). Collectively, these three pillars provide an excellent framework for studying the other disciplines associated with Bujinkan Budo.

Our Instructor

Matt Schmidt started his training in the Bujinkan in 2007. He holds the rank of Yondan (4th degree). Matt continues to frequent seminars featuring top Bujinkan instructors from around the world. Although a skilled instructor, Matt does not hold the rank of Godan (5th Degree) and is not a Shidoshi. As such, Bujinkan Manitoba is under the tutelage of Anton Phipps to ensure high quality instruction and to best represent the Bujinkan organization.

Our Mentor

Anton Phipps began training in Bujinkan Budo in 1998 and is based in Edmonton, Alberta. Currently Anton tries to spend a minimum of two months a year in Japan. Anton is our mentor and through his guidance we have access to the current training philosophies in Japan. Anton comes to Winnipeg on a frequent basis (generally 1-2 times a year) and our instructor is in constant dialogue with him. If you would like to know more about Anton please visit his website (Bujinkan Phipps Dojo)
